Dog’s head in the mail

The severed head of a chihuahua dog was discovered inside a parcel at the Kwaggasrand Postnet, west of Pretoria, on Tuesday afternoon, the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) said.

The parcel containing the head of the six-year-old dog was addressed to somebody in Springs, SPCA chief inspector Marizda Kruger said.

”We received a call from Postnet informing us about a suspicious parcel this afternoon and on investigating we found the fresh carcass.”

She said the parcel had been posted by somebody in Pretoria, but could not release the person’s name pending investigations.

”Whoever did this is very disturbed … it’s very upsetting to have been dealing with a dog’s head for the entire day,” said Kruger.

Pretoria police spokesperson Captain Paul Ramaloko said no arrests have been made yet. — Sapa
