Listed telecoms giant Telkom on Tuesday said it has launched Do Broadband — a new broadband bundle that “will revolutionise broadband in South Africa”.
“The bundle, which combines DSL access and the internet service provider (ISP) account, also offers consumers huge savings and a host of other value-added services to enhance the broadband experience of our customers,” Steven Hayward, managing executive of retail marketing, said.
Telkom recently launched an ADSL Resell wholesale product enabling ISPs and Telkom to combine both ADSL access and the ISP portion in a bundled offering.
“This new development has paved the way for us to marry DSL access with our Telkom internet product, not possible prior to the availability of the wholesale offer,” explained Hayward.
Telkom’s current entry level DSL offer (DSL up to 384Kbps service plus a 2GB internet) was priced at R444 per month, compared with R279 per month for the new Do Broadband entry level product (DSL up to 384 Kbps and a 1GB internet account).
Do Broadband level two offers DSL up to 384Kbps and a 2GB internet account for a monthly charge of R364. Do Broadband level three — the top-end product — comes with a monthly saving of 12% and offers DSL up to 4Mbps and a 3GB internet account for R675 per month.
“With Do broadband we have further simplified the product offerings to make it easier for our customers to understand them,” said Hayward.
Furthermore, there was also the introduction of an “all-access internet account” allowing seamless migration for dial-up or any other access medium to DSL and vice versa.
Hayward added that Telkom’s launch of Do Broadband is another milestone in “our quest to make broadband more affordable, attractive and accessible to all”. — I-Net Bridge
