International Cricket Council (ICC) president Percy Sonn was reported to be critically ill on Tuesday after complications from routine surgery.
His personal assistant, George Hector, told Cape Town radio station Cape Talk that Sonn was sedated at the Durbanville Medi-Clinic after being admitted to intensive care there on Monday.
He underwent surgery last week following a routine check-up several months ago.
The 57-year-old Sonn, who presided over the ICC’s recent World Cup in the Caribbean, was only permitted family visitors.
He became president of the ICC in June 2006 and, in March, was invited to extend the standard two-year term by one after a deadlock at a board meeting over the two potential successors, David Morgan and Sharad Pawar. — Sapa-AP
