The naked, decomposed body of a 22-year-old woman was found in Mdantsane near East London, Eastern Cape police said on Saturday.
Captain Leon Fortune said boys playing in a bushy field found the body at about 11am on Friday. Part of the woman’s left arm was missing.
Police suspect, but could not confirm, that the body is of a woman who has been missing since April 21. They are investigating a case of murder.
Earlier on Saturday, a naked, battered and badly bruised woman was found dumped in a field in Umlazi, Durban, KwaZulu-Natal police said.
It appeared the woman was assaulted and dragged behind a car before being dumped in the field, said spokesperson Constable Lungi Jama.
”People residing near the field heard her moans and groans and went to investigate … she only managed to utter her name and address and died.”
The woman, believed to be aged 35, identified herself as Sandile Thabethe of B Section in Umlazi. Her attackers are still at large and police are investigating. — Sapa
