Jones gets life for Ganchi murder

Ronald Ambrose Jones was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of Michaela Garoenisha Ganchi by the Johannesburg High Court on Wednesday.

Shouts of relief were heard from the family as Judge Winston Msimeki imposed the life sentence on 27-year-old Jones for the 2005 murder.

After the sentence was pronounced, Jones turned in the dock and addressing his family said: ”Ek sal julle buitekant kry.” (I will find you outside).

Ganchi’s family then exploded in anger and began shouting at Jones. One of them said ”Jou vark”, (You pig) while another said ”Gaan vrot in die tronk”, meaning ”go and rot in prison”.

Six-year-old Ganchi was kidnapped, raped and then murdered. — Sapa
