Gibbs’s drunken-driving trial postponed

The drunken-driving trial of Proteas cricketer Herschelle Gibbs has been postponed to March 24 next year.

He appeared before a Cape Town magistrate on Wednesday, but his advocate, Craig Webster, said the defence team needed further particulars from the state on the workings of its breathalyser apparatus.

Webster said his instructions were to ”challenge the entirety of the process”, and that he would call experts.

Magistrate Ingrid Freitag set aside March 24, 25 and 26 for the trial.

Gibbs was arrested in Sea Point on March 28 after being pulled over for speeding.

His bail was extended. — Sapa
