Journalist Shadi Rapitso murdered

Journalist Shadi Rapitso was stabbed to death by an alleged stalker on Friday morning, the Saturday Star reported.

The 29-year-old journalist was allegedly forcefully taken by her neighbour from her home at Calaids Complex in Montgomery Park just before she departed for work.

The man, who had a love interest in Rapitso, then allegedly held her hostage in his flat before allegedly attacking her.

The man, believed to be an SABC employee, allegedly stabbed Rapitso with a kitchen knife in the neck before also stabbing himself several times in the chest.

Police were alerted to the scene by neighbours who heard screaming coming from the man’s flat.

Rapitso was found lying in the bathroom and the man was in the passage with the kitchen knife still in his chest.

The man, who was taken to hospital for treatment, has since been arrested for murder and he is under police guard.

Rapitso is a former journalist for the Sowetan, City Press, Drum and the SABC.
