An explosion damaged a building in which South African Airways offices are located in Maputo, Mozambique, on Tuesday.
SAA spokesperson Vimla Maistry said the blast outside the SAA offices occurred at about 2pm.
A window of the airline’s offices in the Sommerschield area shattered, and two security cameras were damaged. No injuries were reported.
“Our staff suffered from shock and were sent home,” said Maistry.
The explosion occurred at a private house around the corner from SAA’s offices.
“I can categorically say that the bomb or whatever caused the blast was not targeted at the SAA.”
Maistry said the airline was not sure what caused the explosion. Maputo police are investigating the incident. – Sapa
