Sepp’s big adventure

Sepp's Big Adventure

When kulula.com advertised it was offering “Sepp” free flights during June and July, it assumed everyone knew who it was talking about. The airline company made the gesture following its cheeky ad campaign that mocked Fifa’s stringent copyright laws.

But a Cape Town couple, noticing that the ad didn’t refer specifically to Fifa president Sepp Blatter, decided that its dog, also named Sepp, was eligible to take advantage of the offer.

Kulula.com, realising it had been outsmarted, decided to honour its promise, and now Sepp (the Boston terrier) has a seat up front on any flight his little doggy heart desires.

Well, that’s how the story goes, and it may just be a clever piece of marketing. The dog’s owners are yet to be identified, and, well, dogs aren’t usually allowed on to planes.

Regardless, it’s one of the cutest press releases we’ve ever received, and, because under the toughened layers of hard-hitting investigative journalism we are just soft, marshmallowy things, we have decided to share this with you.

Ke nako!

Sepp (the dog) now has his own Twitter page, where he is documenting his rise to fame. When the human Sepp Blatter started a Twitter account, the canine posted: “Hi Sepp, so glad you’re taking questions. Question 1: I really like tummy rubs how do you feel about them?”

The real Sepp is yet to answer.
