Motorists can renew their motor vehicle licences at selected post offices in five of the nine provinces in South Africa — and the list of post offices has just got longer, with an additional 38 post offices in Gauteng and 37 in Tshwane now able to offer this service, as of end July. A total of 88 post offices service Gauteng, and 88 service Tshwane.
The service is offered in the Eastern Cape, Free State, Limpopo and KwaZulu-Natal as well, though Mpumalanga, the Northern Cape, the North West and the Western Cape have yet to come on stream.
This quick-and-easy renewal method requires you to bring your renewal notice and ID book to the post office. If you do not have a renewal notice, you can complete the relevant documentation so your licence can be processed.
Motorists renewing licences at the post office immediately receive a valid licence disk and receipt.
