- One of the many inspired outcomes of the fruitful cultural exchange between this years Shared Histories Festival celebrated by South Africa and India is a sumptuous Indian dance-drama interpretation of Swan Lake, the zenith of the Western classical ballet canon. Combining Tchaikovsky’s incomparable composition and Petipa’s famed choreography, the seminal production sees Mohiniyattam, the south Indian classical dance form of Kerala, dovetailing in remarkable fashion with the lyrical and dramatic music of the ballet to marks the seamless confluence of two great classical traditions.
