Jo’burg music picks: April 29 2011

Gosh, my brain is really smashed this week. Too many public holidays throw things out of whack a bit and make the world look all skew, a state of affairs that is not really helped when a club like Truth (who are not renowned for their metal fests) hold a festival on Sunday May 1 that includes the likes of Agro, Architecture of Aggression, Chromium and Knave.

Go figure. Also on the bill will be another fourty or so acts like Nonaseye, Pestroy, The Monroes, The Narrow, Not My Dog, The Sunday Punchers, Voodoo Child, Crash Car Burn and Dance! You’re on Fire. Entrance will be R150.

Also up this weekend are Cape Townians Captain Stu who are playing at Kitcheners on Friday April 29 along with The Graeme Watkins Project.

For jazzheads, The Bassline are hosting Gosaye on Friday April 29 and Kafele Bandele on Saturday April 30. And finally, my mates Desmond & The Tutus are doing a couple of shows with their mates (from Durban) The City Bowl Mizers – at Cool Running In Fourways on Friday April 29 and Tings ‘n Times on Saturday April 30.
