Catch a show fresh from the National Arts Festival of Student Drama in Grahamstown in Pietermaritzburg this week.
? The University of KwaZulu-Natal’s drama and performance studies programme entry for the National Arts Festival of Student Drama in Grahamstown is an original adaptation of Franz Kafka’s seminal short story, Metamorphosis. Set in a rural Zulu homestead, the play traces the trials and tribulations of a family after the oldest son and breadwinner is transformed into a gigantic insect. The play juxtaposes surrealism and earthy humour and explores timeless themes of stigmatisation, self-sacrifice, exploitation and economic hardship. The show is directed by Adam Steyn.
