Jo’burg animation pick: October 14 2011

Kunjani’mation #1 is a two-day festival and a new platform for animation professionals that will take place on October 14 and 15 at Alliance Française in Johannesburg and at the Wits University School of Arts.

It claims to be the first local gathering focusing on animation from and for Southern Africa, showcasing films and enabling professionals to exchange views on the subject. On Friday and Saturday, Alliance Française will host two projection evenings starting with short films by South African directors including William Kentridge and the Black Heart Gang, followed by a selection of short subjects from the Annecy International Film Festival and finishing with some fantastic French feature films.

Alliance Française, Johannesburg, 17 Lower Park Drive, corner of Kerry Road, Parkview, on October 14 and 15 from 7pm. The workshop happens at Wits Digital Arts, Wits School of Arts, at the University of the Witwatersrand.
