The discovery of a new species, Homo naledi, has kept everyone talking on social media. Researchers have revealed details of the recently discovered Homo naledi – a species with characteristics eerily similar to humans.
According to scientific papers published on Thursday, homo naledi, which means star in the Sesotho, is a new species and an ancient human ancestor. The discovery was announced by the University of the Witwatersrand, the National Geographic Society and the Department of Science and Technology/National Research Foundation.
The species was initially discovered in 2013 in the Dinaledi Chamber at the Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site in Maropeng in Gauteng. Some social media users wanted to know what was found in Maropeng and that led to a creation of a new hashtag #WhatTheyFoundInMaropeng trending.
Here are some of the halirous tweets:
This past weekend, Rapper 50 Cent shared an Instagram a video showing the finishing touches on a new home in Africa – and bragged about it. “My crib is almost finished in AFRICA,” he wrote without specifying which country his new home was built in. “I’m gonna have the craziest housewarming party ever. I’ll explain later. I got a good life, man.” No one knows yet, where in Africa is 50 Cent’s house is being built, but one Twitter user suggests that researchers know where 50 Cents house is being built.
