A new research paper by Research ICT Africa shows that the price of data in South Africa is the most expensive out of all leading African economies.

One area of global development includes the digital revolution and South Africa should not fall behind in building an economy for the 20th century while competitors are focused on the economy of the future.

Government will prioritise bringing down data costs as part of developing an economy in line with the Fourth Industrial Revolution, Minister of Economic Development Ebrahim Patel said in February 2018.

The Mail & Guardian and the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa will debate this topic at the Paragon Room of the Maslow Hotel in Sandton on Wednesday March 14 at 6pm for 6.30pm.
