Russia tackles oil spill after storm wreaks havoc

Russian rescue helicopters and ships searched for five missing seamen on Monday after a storm in the northern mouth of the Black Sea, while oil spilt from a sunken tanker coated birds in a black sludge. The storm killed three people and sank a small oil tanker and at least four freighters, leaving other ships stranded on the shoreline.

Russia test fires ballistic missile

Russia launched an inter-continental ballistic missile on Thursday from its Plesetsk cosmodrome in the north of the country, a Russian military spokesperson said. The RS-12M Topol’, called the SS-25 Sickle by Nato and configured for a mobile platform, was successfully launched at 9.10am Moscow time.
