Ernesto Garcia Marques has been collecting South African music since the age of 12. He runs a Facebook group called Jive Talking and Eyeballing, where he promotes mostly South African music through in-depth interviews with musicians, DJs and people in the music industry, such as producers. The group also has reviews of albums and shows, and news about upcoming gigs and releases. Marques’ life partner Simone is the daughter of renowned Afrikaans poet Ingrid Jonker. The couple live in a modest house in Hout Bay with a couple of huskies. Simone is an online writer and Marques rents out two granny flats, sells CDs at markets and does extra work on movies to get by. A few years back Simone and Marques put together a tribute album and CD to Ingrid titled Die Kind Is Nog Jonger.
