Two actors were shot dead and another three wounded while filming a crime drama in the Angolan capital, Luanda, on Monday when police mistook them as armed robbers, their director said. The tragedy happened as a crowd of onlookers were watching a scene being filmed in the crime-ridden suburb of Sambila.

The body of a 70-year-old man was found with his testicles and one arm missing, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Tuesday. Umfolozi police spokesperson Captain Jabulani Mdletshe said Johannes Mchunu’s body was found on the banks of the Umfolozi River on Monday, a day after he went missing.

Cape Town Mayor Helen Zille has extended by a month the deadline for the independent investigation into various allegations surrounding the city’s so-called spy saga. Zille has appointed Advocate Josie Jordaan of the Cape Bar to lead the investigation into allegations surrounding the George Fivaz and Associates investigation of Councillor Badih Chaaban.

President Robert Mugabe’s government has amended security and media laws that critics say have helped him entrench his rule. The changes to the Public Order and Security Act were agreed at talks, brokered by South African President Thabo Mbeki, between Mugabe’s Zanu-PF party and two factions of the opposition Movement for Democratic Change.
