‘We don’t feel safe here at all’

Chatsworth residents say they ”don’t feel safe” any more and are ruled by fear because of the recent wave of robberies and violent crimes in the area. According to the police, Chatsworth has been experiencing an alarming number of robberies in the past three weeks and residents are now fed up.

Human Rights Day will raise awareness

As South Africans celebrate Human Rights Day on Tuesday, some organisations will use the occasion to raise awareness of issues that particularly concern them. Human Life International said on Monday that it would continue its efforts to lobby until the human rights of all born and unborn children were legally protected.

Comazar gets Ethiopia-Djibouti deal

South African-based Comazar, in which state-held Transnet owns 31,6%, has been selected to administer the 106-year-old railway line that runs from Addis Ababa to Djibouti, Chinese news agency Xinhua reported on Monday. Citing sources close to the Ethio-Djibouti Railway Company, the agency reported that Comazar will be authorised to operate the railway.

Iraq enters fourth year of war

Iraq marked the third anniversary of the United States-led invasion on Monday with a fresh spate of killings, a deadlock over the new government and warnings of civil war as Shi’ites gathered in the south for a major religious ceremony. US and Iraqi forces were on high alert to avert Sunni extremist attempts to trigger renewed outbursts of communal strife.

Comeback-king Anderson lifts England
