World squash champ eyes clean sweep

World champion Nicol David has targeted the Commonwealth Games gold medal as she attempts to complete a clean-sweep of major squash titles. Malaysian star David became the first Asian woman to win the World Open when she triumphed in 2005, a golden year in which she also picked up the prestigious British Open title and claimed the world number one ranking.

Little Wu making big headlines in diving

She’s 13 years old, 28kg wringing wet and at 1,35m the tiniest and youngest member of Australia’s Commonwealth Games team. Waif-like diver Melissa Wu stands slightly above stomach level for an average size adult and was absolutely dwarfed by Australia’s champion women’s basketballer Lauren Jackson when the pair were photographed together ahead of the Games.

Gilchrist: We’ve put it behind us now

Australia vice-captain Adam Gilchrist said on Tuesday that Australia had much to take out of Sunday’s defeat by South Africa in the final Standard Bank one-day international at the Wanderers. ”We have a lot that we can be proud of,” he said. ”We all know that we took part in something unique.”
