Fugitive Nigerian state governor apprehended

Nigerian police on Friday arrested the governor of an oil-rich state who has been charged with money-laundering by a British court, officials said. Governor Diepreye Alamieyeseigha skipped bail in London last month and escaped home to Bayelsa state in southern Nigeria’s unruly Niger Delta, where his arrival triggered a political crisis.

Fluish Bothma moves into Dunhill lead

He may have felt a little under the weather before the start of the tournament, but by the time Michiel Bothma completed his second round at the Dunhill Championship, any sense of affliction had dissipated. Lions, Eagles chalk up victories

Psychologist to assist SA cricketers

Man tries to rob bank by phone

A man who robbed a New Zealand bank was so disappointed with his haul he tried again — this time by phone, police said on Saturday. ”He’s rung [the bank] and said, ‘I’m the guy who robbed you the other day and I want the manager to put some money in a bag and go and stand in the street,”’ said a police spokesperson.

Hamas to end fragile truce with Israel

The head of the Islamist group Hamas’s political branch, Khaled Meshaal, has announced that his group will not renew its fragile truce with Israel when it expires at the end of the year. ”We will not enter a new truce while our people are surrounded and are preparing for a new round of conflict,” Meshaal told a rally on Friday.
