At least 57 people were killed and more than 100 injured when suicide bombers blew themselves up at three hotels in Amman, the capital of Jordan, on Wednesday night. The hotels — the Grand Hyatt, Radisson SAS and Days Inn — were popular with foreigners and many of the guests were involved in work in Iraq.

Axed deputy president Jacob Zuma appeared in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Saturday. He was formally served with an indictment. Earlier on Saturday, hundreds of people danced and sang to the sounds of trumpets and drums outside the court as they prepared for Zuma’s arrival.

Fourteen children have died from food poisoning in the Zimbabwean capital, Harare, in recent weeks, an official newspaper reported on Saturday, a day after reports of an outbreak of dysentery in Harare and its satellite town of Chitungwiza. The children were all under the age of five.

The Warriors enjoyed an excellent second day of their Supersport Series cricket match against the Free State Eagles at St George’s Park on Friday, ending play on 153 for one in reply to their opponents’ first-innings 391. The Warriors will be feeling much happier after they had watched the Eagles soar to 329 for five on Thursday.
