Al-Zarqawi group warns of more Jordan attacks

Jordan said on Thursday it has arrested several suspects over hotel bombings that killed 56 people in the deadliest attacks in the kingdom’s history, claimed by homegrown extremist Abu Musab al-Zarqawi’s militants. The group of al-Zarqawi, who heads al-Qaeda’s Iraq operations, warned of more to come.

Bloody day of violence in Iraq

Two suicide bombers blew themselves up on Thursday inside a restaurant frequented by Baghdad police, killing at least 33 people and seriously injuring 19, while a car bomb killed seven army recruits in Saddam Hussein’s hometown, police said. Also on Thursday, Iraqi soldiers found the bodies of 27 people near the Iranian border.

DA, Mboweni agree on exchange controls

South African Reserve Bank Governor Tito Mboweni deserves support for his position that remaining exchange controls should be abolished, says the official opposition Democratic Alliance. Mboweni said on Wednesday that South Africa’s remaining foreign-exchange controls have become "purposeless".
