Understated appeal

The new 3-Series exhibits the least controversial design, yet it seems to be the one that the most consideration has gone into. It has an aggressive snout which pays tribute to the performance of the model, sleek lines with nicely rounded wheel arches and an overall aesthetic befitting the lineage of the car.

Bosses, workers to fight over GDP pie

The recent gross domestic product (GDP) figures may contain overwhelming good news, but they also point to sticky times ahead for labour and business as they continue to fight for a fair share of national income. Statistics South Africa reported that the GDP for the second quarter grew by 4,8%, a figure made more remarkable by the fact that all 10 measured sectors reported positive growth.

Andile Ngcaba hooks big state contract

Dimension Data’s Internet Solutions being chosen as the government’s Internet service provider recently is the first major government deal since Andile Ngcaba became DiData chairperson in May. The contract was awarded through the State Information Technology Agency to provide national and provincial government with Internet connectivity.

De Beers to close Kimberley mines

Three of De Beers Consolidated Mines’ underground Kimberley operations, that together are forecast to deliver a loss of R150-million for 2005, are to be closed. Recently De Beers confirmed an "in-principle" decision to close the Wesselton, Dutoitspan and Bultfontein mines.
