Luxury wine estate for Bob

Sources close to <i>Not the Mail & Guardian</i> have revealed that a luxury wine estate near Stellenbosch, including its winery and classic Cape Dutch homestead, has been secretly acquired by the Department of Foreign Affairs. The estate and its buildings are being prepared and will be set aside as a retirement home for Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe.

Finally, a first-class Windies victory

The West Indies cricket side finally recorded a first-class win on their South African tour after Easterns squandered a prime position at Willowmore Park in Benoni on Monday. Having not won a top-flight game in 1998/99, the win represented their maiden first-class win on South African soil.

Windies collapse favours Easterns

The West Indies suffered a calamitous lower-order collapse on Sunday to present Easterns with a genuine chance of winning their four-day tour match at Willowmoore Park. The Windies lost their final five wickets for the addition of just 27 runs to be all out for 263, a lead of 284.

SA win Commonwealth Tournament

The South African under-19 cricket team won the Commonwealth Tournament in India after beating Bangladesh by 250 runs in a one-sided final at Faridabad, New Delhi, on Sunday. The locals won the toss and opted to bat. They made a massive 369 for the loss of three wickets.

Appleby trumps charging Singh

Stuart Appleby survived a late charge from Vijay Singh in Hawaii on Sunday to win the United States PGA Tour’s season-opening Mercedes Championships. Appleby led throughout the final round but was made to sweat down the stretch before recording a one-stroke victory in strong winds.
