SuperSport United took a step closer to winning their first Absa Premiership title when they beat Golden Arrows 2-0 in their penultimate fixture of the season at Atteridgeville’s Super Stadium on Wednesday night. United led 1-0 at half-time. The win heaps pressure on second-placed Ajax Cape Town, who play Santos on Thursday night.

Lamontville Golden Arrows and Bidvest Wits drew 2-2 in their Premier Soccer League clash at the King Goodwill Zwelithini Stadium in Umlazi on Saturday afternoon. Abafana Besithende, as Arrows are known, dominated the first 20 minutes of the game and were rewarded in the 10th minute with a goal.

AmaZulu suffered their third straight defeat in the Absa Premier League when they lost 0-1 to Golden Arrows at Princess Magogo Stadium on Wednesday afternoon. AmaZulu were put to the test as early as the fourth minute when Thanduyise Khuboni’s header forced a brilliant save from AmaZulu goalkeeper Kalilio Kakonje.

Golden Arrows jumped from ninth to fifth position on the log with 23 points after beating Platinum Stars 2-0 in their second Absa Premier League encounter at Olympia Park Stadium in Rustenburg on Tuesday night. The visitors were leading 1-0 at the break.

The KwaZulu-Natal derby between Thanda Royal Zulu and Lamontville Golden Arrows petered out to a 1-1 draw in their Premier Soccer League clash at Absa Stadium in Durban on Wednesday night. Arrows led 1-0 at half-time. Arrows took the lead when Siyabonga Sangweni blasted a low shot that beat Royal keeper Aime Kitenge in the 26th minute.

In other matches, Free State Stars moved to position two on the log against Platinum Stars and Lamontville Golden Arrows beat Black Leopards 1-0.
