Nassif plea-bargain expected

Former security chief of the late Brett Kebble, Clinton Nassif, is expected to enter into a plea bargain agreement on Wednesday with the Scorpions after he was arrested in a drug-dealing case. Nassif was added to the list of accused in a drug case that includes Kebble murder-accused Glenn Agliotti, and four others.

Agliotti drug case postponed

The drug-dealing case against Brett Kebble murder accused Glenn Agliotti and four others has been postponed to March next year. Agliotti, Stephanos Paparas, his father Dimitrio Paparas, and Stanley Poonin appeared in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday. Clinton Ronald Nassif (39) was added to the list of accused in the case and appeared in court.

Agliotti case postponed to January

The case of Glenn Agliotti, accused of the murder of mining magnate Brett Kebble, was postponed to January 22 in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court on Friday. Both prosecutor and defence lawyers requested that the matter be postponed for Scorpions prosecutor Gerrie Nel and his team of investigators to further investigate the criminal charges against Agliotti.

Selebi probe under way

South Africa’s acting chief prosecutor said on Tuesday he would investigate police National Commissioner Jackie Selebi amid reports a warrant had been issued for his arrest for links to organised crime. Mokotedi Mpshe, acting director of the National Prosecuting Authority, said he could confirm an investigation of Selebi was under way.

Government denies allegations over Pikoli

There were a number of instances where a breakdown in the working relationship with Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development Brigitte Mabandla was discussed with suspended National Director of Public Prosecutions Vusi Pikoli. This is according to government spokesperson Themba Maseko, who was speaking at a press conference in Pretoria on Monday.

SABC: Arrest warrant issued for Selebi

A warrant of arrest has been issued for police National Commissioner Jackie Selebi, the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) reported on Thursday. The state broadcaster said it had reliably learnt that the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) obtained the warrant. NPA spokesperson Tlali Tlali would not comment on the report late on Thursday afternoon.

Case against Kebble’s security chief postponed

The fraud case against Brett Kebble’s former security chief, Clinton Nassif, was again postponed for further investigation at the Randburg Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday. National Prosecuting Authority advocate Andrea Kasiram requested that the case be postponed to November 19 and for Nassif’s R300 000 bail to be extended.
