PSL coaches feel the heat

Struggling Premier Soccer League (PSL) club Bloemfontein Celtic said on Monday that they had fired coach Khabo Zondo. Zondo, who also assists national coach Carlos Alberto Parreira, was axed a day after mid-table Celtic conceded three late goals to lose 3-1 at Moroka Swallows.

New coach but same old Sundowns

Wednesday night was former Bafana Bafana coach Trott Moloto’s baptism as the caretaker coach of Mamelodi Sundowns following the premature, much-publicised departure of Gordon Igesund earlier in the week. But it was the same old Sundowns who slumped to a 3-1 Premier Soccer League defeat against Moroka Swallows at Loftus.

Sundowns announce Igesund’s departure

Mamelodi Sundowns announced on Sunday night that coach Gordon Igesund and the club will be parting ways. Recently appointed media and communications manager Mahlatse Mphahlele announced ”the club and coach will be parting company on an amicable basis with immediate effect”.

Igesund puts boot into Bafana

After watching Bafana Bafana lose 3-1 to Tunisia in the Africa Cup of Nations group stage game on Sunday night, Mamelodi Sundowns coach Gordon Igesund says certain players are not being used in their best positions. ”I believe that a team has to be built around the strengths of its players,” he said.
