SA drops down Global Peace Index

South Africa has emerged at a ranking of 116 in the Global Peace Index 2008, the index said on Tuesday. ”South Africa has moved down six places since 2007,” it said in a statement. The index is a ranking of 140 countries — from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe — listed according to their peacefulness.

Problems loom ahead of Sudan census

The largest civic exercise in national history will go ahead from April 15 to 30 despite complaints about disorganisation.

SA struggling to attract talent

Despite having reasonably flexible labour markets and decent foreign direct investment inflows, South Africa is struggling to attract talent, according to a survey released on Wednesday by executive search firm Heidrick & Struggles, in partnership with the Economist Intelligence Unit.
