Britain launches website of missing paedophiles

Britain launched a ”Most Wanted” website on Friday detailing the names and pictures of missing child sex offenders. The Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre said the website would include the background and pictures of paedophiles who had failed to comply with regulations requiring them to notify their whereabouts with the police.

Cyprus hold Germany in Euro qualifying

Cyprus held three-time champions Germany to a 1-1 draw on Wednesday in European Championship qualifying, and Eduardo da Silva scored a hat-trick to give Croatia a 4-3 win over Israel. Michael Ballack gave Germany the lead in the 16th minute at Cyprus, and it appeared that the Germans were on their way to a fourth victory in a row in Group D.

Deep-sea trawling is destroying underwater mountains teeming with marine life and causing irreparable damage to ecosystems, scientists warned on Wednesday.
Most of the underwater volcanic mountains, or seamounts, which contain deep-sea corals and are home to thousands of marine species, are in unregulated areas.

South Africa dropped one place in the latest International Rugby Board world rankings after their defeat by Ireland on Saturday. Arsenal jumped to third in the English Premier League and extended Liverpool’s poor away form with a 3-0 win on Sunday. Mathieu Flamini, Kolo Toure and William Gallas scored to help Arsenal rise three places. Liverpool’s title hopes faded further with the defeat. This was its fifth league loss — and all have been away from its Anfield home.

England encouraged to bid for 2018 World Cup

England is being encouraged to bid to stage the 2018 Soccer World Cup. Uefa president Lennart Johansson told BBC radio on Thursday that the 2018 edition will likely return to Europe and that England had a good chance if it submitted a bid. The statement came after a Wednesday meeting with Gordon Brown, the Chancellor of the Exchequer, and sports minister Richard Caborn.
