Homoerotic Jesus sparks art debate in Austria

They knew it would be risky to exhibit a homoerotic version of Christ’s Last Supper, but curators at the museum of Vienna’s Roman Catholic cathedral weren’t ready for a barrage of angry messages and calls to be shut down. The source of the dispute is a retrospective honouring Austria’s cherished artist Alfred Hrdlicka.

Star of Brokeback Mountain found dead

Heath Ledger, the Australian actor nominated for an Oscar in 2006 for his depiction of a brooding gay cowboy, was found dead in his Manhattan apartment on Tuesday. He was 28. He was discovered in his bedroom in the apartment in the SoHo neighbourhood of Manhattan at 3.30pm by a housekeeper and a masseuse.

Dyeing for the cause

There are days when even the World’s Most Wanted Man looks in the mirror and just feels like the world’s most unwanted man. He stares at his grey beard, sighs wearily at a FedEx-ed package of cave-floor carpet samples Mullah Omar wants him to pick between, and thinks: is there some sharia law loophole that means I could hang out with Scarlett Johansson for a few days, as long we just laugh at funny little Japanese people together and don’t get it on?
