Samwu will present a wage offer to its members on Wednesday to end a bus driver strike that has left commuters stranded for more than a week.
A strike by Johannesburg Metro Bus drivers entered its second week on Monday after weekend talks failed to reach an agreement.
About 600 Johannesburg Metro bus drivers will continue with their strike on Wednesday after the company requested they suspend the strike action.

The Congress of South African Trade Unions wants the South African government to cease all relations with Israel and close down the Israeli embassy.

About 8 000 members of the South African Municipal Workers’ Union (Samwu) are to continue striking in Ekurhuleni on Monday, said the union.
Traffic in central Johannesburg came to a standstill on Thursday as thousands of South African Municipal Workers’ Union members marched through the city’s streets.
Hundreds of members of the South African Municipal Workers’ Union (Samwu) were arrested on Thursday after invading the Nelson Mandela 2010 Stadium in Port Elizabeth, the union said. Branch chairperson Nomvula Hadi said workers were leaving the stadium when police opened fire with rubber bullets and teargas.
South African Municipal Workers’ Union (Samwu) members are expected to converge on the Labour Court in Johannesburg on Wednesday to hear a final ruling on a secondary strike. Union spokesperson Dumisani Langa said if the court ruled in their favour, they would rope in other Gauteng municipalities to join the strike.
Striking Johannesburg municipal workers will not be marching along the city’s streets on Tuesday — because it’s raining. ”We will gather outside the Metro Centre for a short while to hand over another part of our memorandum and that will be it,” South African Municipal Workers’ Union spokesperson Dumisani Langa said.

Ten thousand municipal workers in Johannesburg will down tools for three days starting on Monday, the South African Municipal Workers Union (Samwu) said. The Johannesburg Labour Court on Friday overruled the city’s application for an interdict to prevent the strike.
