Bum rap for cheeky Aussie barmaid

A scantily-clad Australian barmaid has been slapped with a fine for revealing too much flesh while at work, a move her employer Tuesday described as ridiculous.

Undercover police observed Megan Brookes at a Perth bar in late 2008 and found that her black lace French knickers left too much of her buttocks exposed, reports said.

Her employer, Raunchy Promotions owner Steve Zielinski, described the case as a waste of resources and said police should spend their time catching drug dealers and other criminals.

“It’s an individual opinion as to what they constitute as immodest,” he told Perth radio.

Brookes, 30, had been planning to fight the charge of indecent exposure in court, but last week pleaded guilty because of the high legal costs of pursuing the matter, AAP news agency said.

When she first faced court last year, she spoke of her shock at the charge which related to her outfit of French knickers, fishnet bodysuit, and stickers covering her nipples.

She argued her case with one of the police officers who reportedly told her: ‘Your breasts aren’t the problem, the problem is you’re showing too much bum’.” — AFP
