CALL FOR PUBLIC SUBMISSIONS ON THE CHARTER FOR HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL SCIENCES
The Department of Higher Education and Training invites submissions from interested persons and stakeholders to submit written comments on the final Report to the Department of Higher Education and Training on the Charter for Humanities and Social Sciences
In 2010, the Minister of Higher Education and Training, Dr BE Nzimande, appointed a Task Team to develop a Charter aimed at affirming the importance of human and social forms of scholarship. The final Report of the Charter was submitted to the Minister on 04 August 2011, and has now been published for public comments. Copies of the draft Charter may be obtained from the Department’s website: www.dhet.gov.za or www.charitiesforhumanities.co.za
The purpose for soliciting written comments on this Report is to afford the wider public an opportunity to respond critically to the content and recommendations of the Charter and to receive advice on how to effect these going forward.
The Closing date for submissions is: 31 October 2011.
