Highlights of Oppikoppi

Fédération Française de Fonck and Lucky Dube there are many other top acts lined up.

Stages seven: The Mainstay Main Stage features all the headline acts and old favourites. Then there are the Tassenber and Old Brown Sherry Rock-Hop Stage, the Musica Progressive Dance Stage, the Gordon’s Gin Theatre and Comedy Stage, the Bernini’s Folk and Jazz Stage, the Sta Travel Unplugged Stage and the bizarre-sounding Travelling Wheel-Bearing Blue Carpet Stage, which will apparently be popping up in unexpected places with mime, juggling and even bagpipe ensembles.

Pukkelpop: Like last year there is an exchange programme between the Belgian festival Pukkelpop and Oppikoppi. We get to hear dance project Buscemi’s beats and Monza’s pop-rock (Hooverphonic had to cancel) and the Belgians will enjoy South Africa’s Max Normal and Krushed & Sorted at Pukkelpop.

International acts: Other big names on the line-up include Gavin Hardkiss (also known as Hawke), one of the founders of Hardkiss Music, from the United States, Luke Vibert of Wagon Christ fame and Ninja Tunes from the United Kingdom, and Russian rockers Blast

Local flavour: Just about everyone will be there. Really. David Kramer, Ashton Nyte, Henry Ate, Steve Newman, Saron Gas, Brasse vannie Kaap, Zim Ngqawana, Sunways, Citrus, Carol Mombelli, Koos Kombuis, Plum, THC, Tidal Waves, Blunted Stuntman, Moses Khumalo and Max Normal are just a few of the more than 100 acts on the programme.
