Local favourite Simon Finch shocked national champion Glen Gore and Olympic team fixture Lieuwe Boonstra to win the Mr Price Triathlon on the Durban beachfront on Sunday morning. The 24-year-old Finch completed the two-lap 800m swim, 20km cycle and 5km run in a brisk 1 hour 02 minutes 53 seconds. Gore finished 43 seconds behind him with Claude Eksteen third at 1:03:45 and Boonstra fourth in 1:04:31. Carl Storm clocked the fastest swim leg at 13 minutes 30 seconds with Finch taking fourth. Finch dominated the bike leg and the rest of the event with a 29:12 second split.
