ZIMBABWEAN President Robert Mugabe reshuffled his cabinet on Wednesday, merging eight ministries into four, creating a new one and appointing three ministers of state and two deputies.
The ministry of local government, rural and urban development has been merged with public construction and national housing to become the ministry of local government and national housing, headed by John Nkomo.
The ministries of education, sport and culture have been merged. Former sports minister Witness Mangwende has been dropped in favour of Gabriel Machinga.
The ministries of mines, tourism and the environment have been merged under Simon Moyo, former minister of transport and energy.
The ministries of lands and water have been merged with agriculture under Kumbirai Kangai.
A new ministry of rural resources and water development will be headed by Joyce Mujuru.
