PAN Africanist Congress secretary general Ngila Muendane told SABC TV news on Wednesday that he was unaware of his apparent removal from the party’s National Assembly list. Muendane told the station: “I don’t know what is happening … I’m just hearing it from you.” He had been number three on the party’s parliamentary list, but was replaced by number four and chief whip Patricia de Lille when the party only won three seats in the election. The PAC said in a statement that Muendane will be redeployed in the party’s head office to concentrate on rebuilding party structures for next year’s local government elections.
