Domestic workers in court after Winnie’s robbery

Two domestic workers were due to appear in court on Thursday in connection with a R4-million robbery at Winnie Madikezela-Mandela’s Soweto home, News24 reported. The pair were allegedly found in possession of Madikezela-Mandela’s jewellery and were arrested on Wednesday.

The former African National Congress Women’s League president returned from an overseas trip on Monday evening and found two of her safes had been stolen and a third had been tampered with at her home in Orlando West.

Soweto police spokesperson Captain Jacqueline Mbatha said the pair were expected to appear in court on Thursday.

There were no signs of a break-in and nothing else seemed to have been taken from the home.
