Actress Lindiwe Cibi was in a critical condition in Johannesburg’s Garden City hospital on Monday after being shot at her home on Saturday.
She was admitted to hospital after being shot in the head at her house in Mofolo.
”Cibi is still critically ill, but stable,” said Carin Koch, the day matron at the hospital.
Police spokesperson Superintendent Thembi Nkwashu said a man has been arrested and is expected to appear in the Protea Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday on various charges, including attempted murder.
Nkwashu said Cibi, of the popular drama series Muvhango, was shot by the man on Saturday.
”According to a friend, there had been no argument before the shooting,” said Nkwashu.
The friend said Cibi was leaning against a car when the man walked up behind her and shot her in the head. The man then apparently hijacked her car.
”He was involved in an accident in Orlando while trying to escape and the community apprehended him,” Nkwashu said.
She said the man, who was in the custody of the Orlando police, would be charged with reckless driving, hijacking, attempted murder and the possession of an unlicenced firearm. – Sapa
