Incest accused marries sweetheart

OWN CORRESPONDENT, Delmas | Tuesday

THE 32-year-old woman charged with having a 16-year-long sexual relationship with her brother has married her childhood sweetheart – by the same magistrate presiding over the incest case.

Heibrecht ”Breggie” Fedder, who is alleged to have been pregnant at least 10 times by her brother, was married in a simple ceremony at the Delmas Magistrate’s Court to Stefan Kamfer, a man nine years her junior.

The two listed as their address the farm Witklipbank, where Breggie Fedder, her brother Jan, 40, and her parents Robert, 65, and Elsina, 60, were arrested on July 26 on incest charges.

The brother and sister have two sons who are now in a place of safety.

Breggie was released on R2000 bail, her mother on R500 bail and her father was released on his own recognisance. Jan was refused bail because of concerns that he would intimidate family members, who had described him as violent.

Asked by a court official whether she was concerned about her brother’s reaction, Breggie said she was not afraid.

According to Afrikaans newspaper Beeld, Breggie arrived at the court house wearing a white skirt and blouse, accompanied by a clearly nervous Kamfer.

The couple were married by Magistrate Adele Viljoen, the very magistrate who presided over the incest case.

They then accompanied Breggie’s parents and some of her sisters to Witklipbank for cake and tea. None of the groom’s family attended the wedding.

The couple said they met seven years ago in Boksburg.

Her happy parents commented: ”We’ve been urging her to marry Stefan for a long time. If she had done it sooner, there wouldn’t be any trouble now. We hope they will be happy.”

During the photo session, Breggie looked into her husband’s eyes like a lovestruck teenager.

The four accused are expected to appear in court on September 22.
