Mandela’s announcement followed the report of the =20 Skweyiya Commission of Inquiry into malpractices in the =20 former Bophutatswana, which implicated ousted president =20 Lucas Mangope and other officials in the misuse of more =20 than R200-million of public money.=20
Meanwhile, the Browde Commission of Inquiry has until =20 the end of the year to complete its investigations into =20 irregularities in the former homelands and the =20 republic. Its brief includes investigating promotions =20 and salary increases public servants awarded themselves =20 in the former Transkei and Ciskei.=20
