Glen Chait and Neville van der Merwe: wanted for the kidnapping and murder in the United Kingdom of chartered accountant Simon Law, a British citizen. Were believed to have been hired by an associate of Law after a business deal went wrong. See story below
Andile QaQa, aka Webber, aka Mawetu: a notorious gang member operating in the Port Elizabeth area and in the Western Cape. Wanted for armed bank robberies, vehicle robberies, murder, attempted robbery and escaping from custody
Herman Mokotedi (28): alleged syndicate leader, wanted for hijacking luxury cars in the Pretoria area. Was arrested along with others in his syndicate, but escaped from police custody in Pretoria last year
Mhlabunzima Xulu, aka Makhatini: wanted for five counts of murder and three attempted murders in the Greytown area of KwaZulu-Natal including an attack on the Glebeland men’s hostel on January 18 this year
Manuel Branco Augusto Carlos: charged with murder. Is believed to have hired Joe Masanga to kill his fiancee. Masanga was sentenced to death, but during investigations it emerged that he had allegedly been paid by Carlos, who wanted his partner’s R140 000 insurance money. Was arrested, released on bail, then disappeared. Last seen in the Rustenburg area
Aphana Isaac Skumbuzo: wanted for murder, armed robbery, abduction and escaping from custody. Shot and killed a businessman during a bank robbery in the Cape in July 1992. Was arrested, released on bail in December and was involved in another robbery. He was re-arrested and escaped from police custody in January 1993 after overpowering an officer
Solomon Motosepe, aka “Solly”: wanted for dealing in mandrax, murder and attempted murder. Police believe he had his own machine to manufacture mandrax. Was charged with producing mandrax with a street value of R20-million. Bail was opposed and refused, but he managed to escape from Pretoria central prison with the aid of a warder in December 1995. Reward R50 000
Johannes Makhaya (33): wanted on 101 charges including theft of motor vehicles, attempted kidnapping, drug trafficking, arms smuggling and 16 armed robberies. Believed to be somewhere in Africa — possibly Malawi, Tanzania or Zimbabwe
Jan de Wet: An AWB member wanted along with two others, Nicolaas Barnard and Abraham Myburgh, in connection with a series of political bombings in the run-up to the 1994 general election. The three men escaped from custody while awaiting trial in johannesburg on March 9 this year. Reward of R30 000. There are rumours the men have fled to Israel
