TUESDAY, 11.00AM:
SEVERAL star members of the Springbok rugby Test team are injured, and some of them may miss the rest of the series against the British Lions. James Small is the latest in a string of players who look to be non-starters in the upcoming second Test match against the Lions in Durban on Saturday.
Centre Edrich Lubbe is out of action for at least two weeks with a pulled hamstring, while Japie Mulder has a serious shoulder injury, and is seeing a specialist doctor in Johannesburg. Naka Drotske and Henry Honiball have strained neck muscles and Fritz van Heerden has a bruised hip.
Small is being treated for his strained hamstring, and may not be fit for Saturday’s crucial match. Springbok coach Carel du Plessis has delayed the naming of his team for the match till tomorrow, until the fate of several players is determined.
