THE Mpumalanga auditor-general’s office has completed its management report on its investigation into alleged irregularities surrounding the Mpumalanga Rural Housing Project.
Provincial deputy auditor-general Bertie Loots said the report will be handed to acting housing director general Neville Karsen on Friday. Loots refused to reveal the contents of the report, saying only that it is the first in a number of investigative phases that might be considered.
The auditor-general was called in to investigate the project in May by former housing director general Billy Cobbett, who was fired by minister Sankie Mthembi-Mahanyele as a result.
