Shortlist for airports restructuring adviser

FRIDAY, 10.30AM

TRANSPORT Minister Mac Maharaj and his Public Enterprises counterpart Stella Sigcau on Thuesday announced a shortlist of three for the position of adviser on the restructuring of parastatal Airports Company.

The shortlisted candidates are: SBC Warburg in partnership with accounting and consulting firm Gobodo; Standard Corporate and Merchant Bank with Morgan Stanley and Co-Ordinated Management Consulting; and Deutsche Morgan Grenfell. Altogether 17 groups bid for the position of adviser in the sale of up to 49% of the Airports Company, which operates SA’s international airports and is valued at about R2,5-billion.

It is understood there is some unhappiness among bidders not selected for the shortlist, and objections are expected to be lodged on Monday. The three shortlisted parties are due to be interviewed on July 25 and a decision is expected shortly afterwards.
