Aussies beat SA at world Super-8 cricket

AUSTRALIA beat South Africa by 19 runs to win the World’s Super 8 cricket tournament in the Royal Selengor Club grounds at Bukit Kiara on Sunday. Australia pocketed $10 000 and a challenge trophy and South Africa received $6 000.

Australia, who chose to bat first, did not make a good start with their opening batsman scoring two before being bowled. They recovered with Andrew Symonds scoring 61 runs. Ian Harvey put Australia further ahead with 32 runs.

Australia took five South African wickets for 65. SA’s three last wickets produced 59 runs. South African captain Adam Bacher said after the match: “We did everything we could but things just did not go right for us. We lost concentration and did not field well.”.
