SA hockey women draw against England

FRIDAY, 9.43AM:

SOUTH AFRICA’s women’s hockey team drew their match against England 4-4 in the World Cup qualifying tournament in Harare, Zimbabwe on Thursday. South Africa were trailing 2-3 at half time.

England star Jane Smith opened the score in the 10th minute when she scored from close range. Three minutes later Tina Cullen made it 2-0 for England. South Africa came back when Alison Dare scored twice before half-time. England’s Smith scored again to make it 3-2 just one minute to half-time.

In the second half South Africa scored first through Karen Roberts. SA went into the lead when Pietie Coetzee scored her 11th goal of the tournament. Smith equalised for England with just 25 seconds left to make it 4-4.
