New chairman of Transvaal Cricket Board

FRIDAY, 12.30PM:

BARRY SKJOLDHAMMER was elected as the new chairman of the Transvaal Cricket Board (TCB) for the next two years at the TCB’s annual general meeting on Thursday. He replaces Gerald Ritchie who failed to win re-election after being opposed by Skjoldhammer.

Fomer Wanderers chairman Ray Wentzel was elected as vice-chairman to replace Ziggy Wadvalla, who was appointed as general manager two weeks ago and Roger Hagarth was re-elected as treasurer for the next two years.

Skjoldhammer said one of his tasks will be to “speed up the TCB’s dicision making processes by having smaller sub-committees and giving the permanent staff the room to do their jobs.” He said there is no bad blood between him and Ritchie. “But someone else must have a turn now,” he said.
